Just testing new P2 theme (used on this site) out a little bit, and it’s checklist management feature:
Just saw a tweet about a [musician] gig-related WP plugin. Maybe someone will find it useful, such as my future self. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gigatools-widget/
“Responsive” is a WordPress theme that emphasizes in its name the fact that appearance on various screen sizes was taken into consideration. It was created by Emil Uzelac, a prominent member of the theme review team.
It has been downloaded more times in one week than twentyeleven, which perhaps means something I’m not sure, but it’s description sounds promising to me. Supposedly it also comes with a support forum at its home page.
Blog post about its theme options screen, which made me notice the theme: http://themeoptions.wordpress.com/2012/04/26/responsive-theme-options/.
And his reply to the review at themeoptions.wordpress.com is almost worth a feature in my blog post: http://themeoptions.wordpress.com/2012/04/26/responsive-theme-options/#comment-59 ;0)
We had the WordPress monthly meetup yesterday, as we do on the first Wednesday of every month.
Brent presented tips on how to search for plugins and how to know whether a plugin has a good chance of being a good choice when you’re looking at a http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ page of a plugin you’ve not used before.
Afterwards, Ian talked about WordCamps, and his desire to have a WordCamp in Winnipeg.
We had good turnout, and several new and interesting people, along with a good number of interesting people who’ve attended the meetup previously. One of the funny conversations at the bar involved the idea of “Rick-rolling” people using QR codes.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to the first Wednesday of the next month!
Tonight is the February #wpwpg meetup. It is @skullspace again
@toderash will be presenting on the topic of software freedom (gotta love that guy).
@donbetts will be presenting on web design.
Ian will be there again, which hopefully means his wife is all better.
See you there!
The Winnipeg Code Camp is February 25th!
They’re looking for new presenters, and someone should present on WordPress!
I presented WordPress last year, and I’d look forward to any WordPress presentations any of you might be interested in doing.
Anyone up for it?
Matt Wiebe says he has too much WordPress work being offered to him, he has to turn down good projects. https://twitter.com/#!/mattwiebe/status/161545380209770496 Maybe someone could help him with that?
A really cool, constantly updated list of new popular plugins by my compatriot http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins-rising-stars
I did a small re-vamp of the wpwpg.com website. It is aimed at providing a venue for Winnipeg WordPress enthusiasts to stay in touch over the month between the meetups.
It’s now possible for anyone with an email address to register for the site, and then make posts.
Posts can be made right through the home page, courtesy of the P2 theme.
It’s now possible to subscribe to get notifications of posts made to the site via email, courtesy of the jetpack plugin.
We had some great presentations tonight, I really enjoyed them.
We talked a little bit about the WordPress Foundation taking over the meetup.com group and funding.
I look forward to talking starter themes with @iandstewart!
